COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

Science 6
 
This course focuses on the study of cell biology; the structure and function of living things; the cycling of Earth’s materials; heat and thermal energy; reproduction in plants and animals; genetics; human impact on the environment and investigation and experimentation using the scientific process.
 
Science 7
 
This course focuses on the study of ecosystem interactions; the chemistry of living systems; Energy at the molecular level; physical and chemical properties; chemical reactions; photosynthesis; energy flow in organisms; plate tectonics and the Earth’s structure; ecosystem biodiversity; shaping the Earth’s surface, and investigation and experimentation using the scientific process.  Students will also receive comprehensive sexual education as mandated by state law. Preview materials are made available for parents on the district website or in the front office.
 
Science 8
 
This course focuses on the study of motion; forces; kinetic and potential energy; Earth in the solar system; Earth and life history; genetics; biological adaptation; human impact on the environment; the properties and movements of waves and investigation and experimentation using the scientific process. Students will also receive comprehensive sexual education as mandated by state law. Preview materials are made available for parents on the district website or in the front office.
